Matthew Corozine believes that you can create your own life. With this in mind (and heart), he has created the MATTHEW COROZINE STUDIO THEATRE (MCS); a New York City-based acting studio rooted in the Meisner Technique.  Now approaching its twelve year anniversary, the Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre is part of a vision Matthew has for his students – to be working actors and have a home to build their craft – with honor and integrity.

Located in the heart of Times Square, the Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre has produced and directed over 15 productions. Favorites include CRIMES OF THE HEART, THE SHADOW BOX, THE MAIDEN’S PRAYER, by Nicky Silver (off-Broadway at The Beckett Theatre, Theatre Row, NYC ), John Patrick Shanley’s, THE BIG FUNK, and Paul Zindel’s dark comedy, AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE.

Matthew directed the FRINGENYC 2009 critically acclaimed hit, THE BOYS UPSTAIRS, (Soho Playhouse) that was extended as part of FRINGENYC’s Encore Series.  He followed his 2009 success by directing FRINGENYC 2010’s MISS KIM, written by MCS students Ryan Tofil and Gina Kim and inspired by a class assignment Gina Kim completed when she was a new student with Matthew.  MISS KIM sold out its run and was hailed as “amazing” by critics and theatregoers alike.  The positive response fueled a 2012 limited-run revival of MISS KIM at off-Broadway’s 45^th Street Theatre.  Bi-coastal in popularity, Matt traveled to LA to direct in fall 2012.  He took the helm of a one woman show by actor, writer, comedian, and friend Susan Isaacs, based on her spiritual memoir, ANGRY CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD.  The show played Two Roads Theater in LA for a limited engagement and was greeted with standing ovations.

Matthew has taught acting at American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC) and acting and improvisation at SUNY Purchase. He has guest directed at St. John’s University (Queens), and directed twenty-five  graduates from The Neighborhood Playhouse in their November 2003 showcase.

The actors that Matthew coaches are currently working on Broadway and in television and film, in both New York City and Los Angeles.  Recent students are working on Broadway in such shows as: THE BOOK OF MORMON, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, WICKED, CHICAGO, IN THE HEIGHTS, THE LION KING, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, LEGALLY BLONDE, SPRING AWAKENING, AIDA, SWEET CHARITY, AVENUE Q, RENT, HAIR, 9 to 5 the Musical, GYPSY (and many more) and on Televison in SMASH, THE BIG C, 30 ROCK, ALL MY CHILDREN, LAW AND ORDER, SEX AND THE CITY and many national commercials. Matthew has a BA in Theatre Arts (concentration in Acting and Directing) from SUNY at New Paltz, and has continued his training in the Meisner Technique with Robert X. Modica at Carnegie Hall Studios in NYC. He has appeared in many commercials, NYC theatre productions, national tours, and independent films.

Matthew is thrilled about the expansion of the studio and looks forward to continued artistic growth. Also a member of SSDC (Society of Stage Directors and Choregraphers).

Matthew is featured in Italian Men’s Vogue, L’UOMO VOGUE, January 2009.  Selected as one of eight “New York Icons”, he is featured on a full page photographed by acclaimed Italian photographer and Film Maker, Francesco Carrozzini.

Recently, Matthew has been sought out to guest coach on reality TV.  His first stint was on WINGMAN on FLN, then an appearance on MY TIME, a reality TV pilot produced by THE OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK.  Shortly after, Matt signed to coach on an episode of  MTV’s Emmy Award winning docu-series, MADE.  Matthew guides, challenges, and inspires a 21-year-old aspiring actress.
