Improvisation

Samantha Jones is fearless. As a highly respected Improvisation director in NYC, she hand picked the casts and directed the improv comedy troupes – The Free Association, Faux Show, The Mug Shots, The Outrageous Instincts, The Baker’s Dozen, The Free Association and Please Stand By. As an award winning actor, comedian, and avant-garde solo performer her reputation as a risk taker as both a director and performer proceeds her. Collaborating with director, Debbie Jones, Jones co-starred in and produced the independent film, The Last Christmas Party. She originated the role of Blue Cahill in the New York production of the award-winning play The Breezeway, and is part of the production team aiming to take it from off-Broadway into feature film. Adding singer songwriter to her list of credits, Jones is half of the award-winning comedic-folk-rock duo, The Sister’s Rock! She established her reputation in solo performance and development with Butterfly Suicide, her 4th solo show and one of 12 shows selected for the Solo Nova Arts Festival at P.S.122. She has directed prestigious solo artists including DL Hughley, Amy Stiller and singer/songwriter Paulie Z. She directed No Traveler which had a six month run in NYC and went onto the Edinburgh Frigid Festival to acclaim. Taking her love for the avant-garde into theatre, she directed Horror Play by her playwriting sister, Jeannine Jones, whose play was chosen for the cult play festival: Sticky. Jones has been featured on Comedy Central, HGTV and MTV’s Run’s House. She both directed and acted in comedic shorts for Jack Black’s Acceptable TV. Currently she is directing the political live comedy show The Skinny at the Tank in NYC, is re-staging No Traveler for a US tour and is slated to direct Jane Petrov’s The Red Booty Show and Under Milkwood at MCS. She has worked as an independent producer on Artists for the Cure at Carnegie Hall, and Wigstock. She represented Screen Actor’s Guilds on the board of the NY Coalition of Professional Women in Arts and Media. Jones is a founding member of Dora Mae Productions.
