“I went to school at the prestigious NYU but when people ask me where I learned how to act, I confidently say ‘Matthew Corozine Studio’. Being a strong singer and eagerly shot out of the college cannon, I found myself working consistently in the musical theater but I wasn’t finding artistic fulfillment in my work. Every new job I booked seemed to be by accident; higher level projects seemed to allude me. At the age of 25, I plateaued. In working with Matt, he gave me back my edge. His studio was the perfect playground to identify why I’m in the field of acting. Matt’s training is truly intense: full of understanding, patience, love and lots of tough love. After a couple of weeks you will identify yourself as an actor who ‘wants to do it’ versus an actor who ‘needs to do it’,

“Being in Matthew Corozine’s class has completely shifted my life. His passion and dedication for art is inspiring and will awaken any artist in you that has been shying away. Matt’s class has allowed me to play and be fully present and connected. That is a gift! It’s deliciously deep and takes you straight to your core. I’ve built confidence as an actress and I’ve taken charge of what I really want in my life. I am so thankful to have found such an inspiring passionate mentor and be surrounded by like-minded artists.” -Malia Sharf
Kenny Scharf’s “surrealistic pop” paintings shook up the New York art world of the early 1980s and turned him into a star. Now his daughter, Malia Sharf is at work on a documentary about his art, the time and place he moved through, and the other artists who did it with him.
“My work with Matt over the past couple years has given me the skills and confidence to truly consider myself an actor with something unique and personal to offer. The curriculum at MCS and Matt’s intuitive skills as a teacher have helped me to work through my personal blocks, many of which I didn’t even know I had! This transformation has led to an exciting new appetite for the world of acting. This is a most definitely a class I’d recommend to anybody who aspires to deliver honest and powerful work in their career as an actor. “
- Tom Berklund
Broadway: A CHORUS LINE (REVIVAL), LEAP OF FAITH (Los Angeles) with Brooke Shields and current Broadway THE ADDAMS FAMILY.
Co-creator of Artist Round Table (ART) at MCS
“With Matt’s training, I am learning to show-up not only physically, but emotionally as well. This has served me wonderfully in the audition room and on stage, as well as in my everyday life. I’m learning how to get out of my head and out of my own way, so I can fully express my inner-self, my inner-artist, and fully LIVE in the moment. I’ve been performing for years, but for the first time I feel confident in saying that I am an ACTOR, and I attribute it completely to my ongoing training at MCS.”
–Peter Kriss
Regional: “Tommy” in TOMMY 2011
“I had the opportunity to work with a prominent tv director (Friends, Everyone Loves Raymond, etc) recently and jumped in as the lead actress while she was away. Only because of the training with Matt Corozine was I able to trust my instincts enough to DIVE IN without any hesitation. From my work at MCS, I was able to get out of my own way to serve the work with fearlessness, professionalism, and truth. MCS has helped me become a generous actor who trusts going for it and not holding back!”
~Cristy Candler
original Broadway Cast, WICKED
“Matt is undeniably passionate about the need and importance of an artist’s voice in the community. He loves the arts and he adores actors. He encourages his students to step away from their fears and self-judgements in order to move closer to experience the truth in a moment. My listening skills improved greatly and I was happy to always get personal attention on my own path!”
–Ioana Alfonso
Broadway: WICKED, 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL
“Matt’s passion towards his students to understand this technique has blown me away. His passion towards other human beings is so inspiring.
“Matt’s class has allowed me to open up and start to see the artist I’ve always known has been inside of me. After spending a lifetime in various studies with rules, exact steps, and judgements MCS is helping me fill the holes of my education and piece together a path to creativity and artistry that is uniquely my own. With Matt’s guidance, I have reawakened a passion for my craft that has been paying off not only in auditions but also in my everyday life.”“Matthew Corozine’s class rescued my stalled acting career from lost mojo and lack of technique. His passion was the first thing that struck me – that someone could be so about the work that the employment results were irrelevant. It wasn’t about booking the job, it was about being fully and truly present, getting out of your head. Over time, Matt’s passion brought out my own and allowed me to act fearlessly, with complete emotional availability. You will laugh a lot, you will cry a lot. At times, in practically the same breath.”

“To be able to fully take your attention off yourself and put it on the other actor will simply make you a better actor. To be able to live in the unknown and let the scene take you where it needs to instead of doing what you “planned ” to do will better your craft to no end. MCS teaches you that from day one. I have been working as an actor on T.V. and on the Broadway stage since taking Matthew’s class. He guided me in taking my craft to the next step and I would recommend his studio to any serious actor looking to better themselves.”

“I’ve been a professional working actor in NYC for the past 7 years.
Learning the Meisner technique in Matthew’s class, I felt like it was
the first time I was truly acting. His classroom setting is such a
nourishing place to be for the actor looking to strengthen the honesty
and fullness to their work. It’s the ultimate “gym” for listening, being in
the moment and reacting on impulse… all things that are vital & unique
to our expression as actors. It’s very comforting to know that Matt is
there, fighting for us to be our authentic, true selves. To get out of our
heads and allow ourselves to tap into those instincts & emotions with
the full depth that we often don’t know that we have. After taking class
with Matthew, I definitely feel my confidence as an actor getting stronger
& stronger.” - Vincent Rodriguez III

“It is now almost 8 years since I started working with Matt, and I continue to learn from him whenever I am in class. Meisner Technique has not only freed me up as an actor but also as a human being. My feelings about the world matter and deserve to be heard- Matt was the one who reinforced that in me. MCS will change your life!”

“Matthew is an incredible teacher. He is real. He is honest. And he wants the best for all of his students. His passion for teaching is obvious, and he never just allows a student to do “okay” work. He always pushes for the best. Before taking class with Matthew, I didn’t have a lot of trust in my instincts or my technique. I had no idea why sometimes I was good, and sometimes it didn’t work. Thru Matt’s teaching, I was able to learn that there is an actual technique that still uses all your natural instincts. Matt helped me see all those parts of me– the good, the bad the ugly- is what makes up my talent- and it is something to be proud of. “

“There really is no way describe how much classes at MCS can change your life. This is not just about being a skilled actor. This is about finding out what you are really made of, gaining confidence as a person, and learning how people affect you and you effect them. Matthew gives you the tools you need to succeed in your everyday life and achieve the professional goals you set for yourself in a tangible, attainable way. It’s not an easy road. There are challenges and obstacles that you must fight through, but you don’t fight them alone. Matthew takes each step with you and forces you to push forward, because he believes in every student(‘s talent?) and their ability to succeed. Your peers at MCS are a wonderful support system that cry with you and laugh with you. Soon, you’ll wonder how you’ve survived for so long without them. Time flies and the next class can not come soon enough. MCS becomes your second family. It’s a journey worth taking. You just have to decide if YOU are worth the journey. “

“Mathew Corozine is the best teacher I have ever seen.
He has the knack of freeing his students from their inhibitions, so their instruments their can fully express themselves.
He opened me up to emotional resources I didn’t know I had.
He intuitively understands who we are and how to get the best out of us.
His classes are a terrific experience, both fun and freeing. I never miss a class.”
- David Lipman
Currently Appearing in The Coen Brothers’ new film,TRUE GRIT, as prosecuting attorney Mr. Barlow opposite Jeff Bridges
“Matt is the kind of teacher who accepts nothing less than your best.
At MCS I learned how to interpret text through my voice, which I feel makes for unique and solid work every time. There’s no comparing or copying; it’s all about trusting your gifts and becoming your most authentic and fearless self, on and off stage.”

“Working with Matt at MCS has completely revolutionized my acting and has catapulted me into a new level of confidence and strength enabling more of ‘me’ to be seen. Matt also won’t let you ‘get away with’ anything that doesn’t serve you or your art. He keeps you fastidiously accountable to truth because he wholeheartedly has your best interest at heart and thereby reaps amazing results.”

“Matt’s insistance on my being truthful to my own nature is something I’ve prayed for in a teacher my whole life. All I want to do when I’m not working is to be in his class and break through.”
- Sheri Sanders, Hal Leonard Published Author of Rock The Audition, Creator of the Pilot Episode of My Time, The Oprah Winfrey Network
“Matthew Corozine taught me that not only does my point of view matter, but it is a major ingredient in the make up of my talent. Failure is inevitable and necessary in an actor’s growth. It’s the lessons that come with it that pushes the actor to the next level of his artistry. I have Mathew to thank for providing me with a safe home to fall, learn, rise again, and ultimately triumph. The opportunity to face my fears and conquer them fuel me as an artist. I use certain muscles when I dance and others when I sing. I think of my emotions as the muscles being trained at MCS. Strong technique comes with healthy training based in truth. Matthew offers actors the tools they need to build strong technique. Empowered by my point of view, armed with my technique, and confident in my ability to tap into my truth and use it in my work, are what I walk away with every time I leave class.”
- Alexander Quiroga
Alex is currently appearing in WICKED on Broadway.
“It’s hard to fully express the multitude of growth, gratitude, and confidence I have experienced and acquired from MCS studios. In my occupation as a recording artist I thought it was about hitting the highest notes. Until I learned from Matthew how to act, how to Feel! My singing has never been better. I actually feel what I’m singing about. Truly a wonderful gift that has changed my life.”

“When I first came to MCS, I was just looking for an acting class. Little did I know the gold mine I had struck. In my entire life, I’ve found no other experience that frees my artistic spirit the way that Matthew’s class does. It has given me both the opportunity to express my truest self, and the tools to put that unique truth into my work. Matthew has amazing instincts, as well as the ability to describe his technique a thousand different ways, a rare gift among acting teachers. I’ve never seen him give up on a student. And I always leave his class inspired, fulfilled, and grateful that I’ve chosen to live my life as an actor.”
- Matthew LaBanca, Broadway’s Young Frankenstein, White Christmas
Matthew has been cast as Fred Astaire in the new multi-regional theatre production of BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS, the Ginger Rogers Musical.

“Matthew Corozine’s expertise and intuition make him a unique and astute teacher. He quickly and sharply opened up a whole world of understanding of the characters I have had the priviledge of playing this year. His accute understanding of the human condition and the process of acting helped me access the core of the characters, play them truthfully, and book the job!”

“I love the freedom I have within MCS to grow, learn and totally get out of my head! He pushes you and allows you to work to your fullest potential, but YOU have to be hungry to learn and willing to be an open book to get the great results you are destined to achieve. The time spent in class has made me a stronger actor, a better man and has given me the confidence to stand stronger in the strength of my individuality while opening eyes of others to not just see me as a dancer who can sing.”

“Matt is a dedicated teacher and director. Knowing him has enriched me in so many ways; as an actress, as a vocal coach, and personally. I always felt his commitment towards me. Classes with Matt helped me to recognize and honor myself. He gave me the support and love I needed, so that I could courageously express whatever I was feeling in the moment. That gave me such confidence and freedom to express myself on stage and in my life. And being directed by Matt in Shadow Box was an exciting and wonderful experience that I’ll always remember.. Thank you Matt.”

“I have been studying to be an actor most of my life. It wasn’t until I began studying with MATT, that I felt I truly was one. I have booked plays, musicals, readings, and a national commercial since I began taking classes at MCS. To say I enjoy my time in the studio each week would be an understatement. The minute class is over, I am looking forward to the next.”
- Tessa Faye
“Matthew Corozine’s class is one of the best tools I have discovered in my career. It is a safe place to take chances, let go, and discover things about yourself you never knew you had…Matthew’s energy allows you to believe in your talent, and his encouragement allows you to break new barriers day after day.”

Being in Matt’s class reminds you the importance of being an actor and an artist, not only for yourself but more importantly, for the world around you. It’s powerful stuff, not to mention, a damn good time.”

“Working with Matt and the Meisner technique has been both healing and freeing… Matt has pushed me to be the best me on and off stage! He has helped me to narrow in on what it is that I MUST do. Act. Live in every moment. Cherish all that is around me. If you want to get to the next level, whether you are a beginner, just curious, or advanced, I hope you look to Matt for guidance. He will commit to every moment, and help to make it a pure, and truthful…”

“One of the most important things I learned at MCS is listening. I was told to listen, and it was amazing. After about a month, I started to really understand what listening was about. Coming from a dance background, I knew how to listen and respond with my body. I began to learn to listen in a different way. Matt never made me feel like I was just a dancer, encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone. He told me ” I won’t let you rest in your talent. Its not fair to you or me. I won’t let you. ” And I am so grateful he didn’t! I realized that I loved to act, cultivating a passion I had no idea even existed!
So thank you so much for being an inspiration. I use that piece of advice every day; onstage, and off. I love you Matt and MCS!!!!!!”

“At the Matthew Corozine Studio I learned to enjoy and celebrate the emotional ride that one can take during a great scene or play. I do not fear the discovery of a character nor his journey. Studying with Matt has helped me to learn to become a character, not to just play one. The studio environment is safe, supportive, and a place where one can be free to create, explore, laugh, scream and cry.”
Steve Konopelski

“I had this lingering feeling that something was off – professionally & actually personally as well - but it wasn’t until joining Matt’s class that I was able to pinpoint exactly what it was. As a lot of actors do without even realizing it, I had MANAGED myself to death. I had monitored myself to a point where my true soul wasn’t really allowed to fully break through. And for an actor, that is certain death. But through the exercises & techniques utilized in Matt’s classes I was able to search and destroy a lot of the blocks that were holding me back.”

‘I had taken Meisner before in two different places, but when I started at MCS, I was blown away with the integrity and truthfulness that Matthew demanded in our work. I couldn’t pull any acting tricks, and I loved being caught and the true me being coaxed out under the lights. In an industry that often weighs heavily on being pretty enough, being funny enough, being dramatic enough, it was a relief to find a place of safety where I was enough, and it was me that was demanded: my true authentic self; and that it was that self that would develop a niche and get work. No other coach I’ve worked with has had higher expectations that I live truthfully and fully, not only under the imaginary circumstances of the stage, but in my entire life.”

“MCS continues to propel me forward in my acting career. Not only did Matthew Corozine unlock my hidden potential, but he provided me with a creative, collaborative, and inspiring environment, as well as the confidence to explore myself within it. The only bad part about getting an acting gig outside of NYC is that it takes me away from learning more about my craft, and studying with one of the best.”

“I can honestly say that taking class at Matthew Corozine Studio was one of the best decisions of my career. I can honestly say that applying what I’m learning has really opened doors for me in Film, TV & Theater and has helped me book work. I know for a fact it’s made my transition to the LA market much easier because I’m much more prepared. It’s such a close knit group that welcomes you in with open arms and instantly makes you feel like you’ve been studying there for years. Matt truly cares about every one of his students and in this industry that’s becoming rarer by the day. An amazing place to really let go and learn the craft.”

“MCS and Matthew’s guidance into the Meisner Technique has changed my life as an artist and as a person. Coming to him as dancer, my biggest fear was speaking in front of an audience. I can’t imagine a safer environment to venture into the world of acting. I always look forward to going to class and building with the incredible fellow students in my class. Matt has not only opened me up as an actress, but he continues to facilitate my overall artistic growth.”

“Matthew Corozine taught me how to get out of my own way and express myself in ways I never knew I could. He gave me the tools I needed to stop stifling myself and start sharing the crazy, amazing, overwhelming human being I am through my acting. He is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”
~Suzanne Adams, Artistic Director of Opening Doors Theatre Co.
“Matt has been my favorite acting teacher of all time. he’s honest, doesn’t let me get away with anything, brings out the best in me and most important has been a good friend. he naturally brings out every emotion and allows a safe place to be yourself with no judgement.”

“Matthew Corozine is unique among the teachers I’ve had in my life. He provides a supportive and enriching environment where I’ve learned how to work past my masks and walls and reach the actor deep inside me.”
