This year was a loss to myself and the Theatre Community. Joyce Sarandon, Actress, Voice/Speech and Dialect Coach passed away. Joyce Sarandon was one of the good ones–the real deal.
Joyce was a dear friend to me whom we shared many things on “many levels”–(a Joyce phrase). Joyce and I met studying Meisner in famed Robert X. Modica studio in Carnegie Hall back in 1998. Joyce went on to join our studio, Matthew Corozine Studio, teaching master classes in speech as well as studying acting under me and appearing in many scenes and productions I directed, most notably 2001′s AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE, appearing as Mrs. Petrano.
Joyce also impacted many actors as a Voice/Speech and Dialect coach teaching privately for many years as well as at Lee Strasburg Institute and NYU.
We are having a memorial celebration of Joyce’s life on Monday, 24th of October 2011 starting at 7pm at MCS Theatre–300 w. 43rd St., Suite #502. Please join us as we honor Joyce and raise a glass of wine to one of the most unique women I have ever been blessed to call a friend and a colleague.
Cheers to you Joyce always in our heart.

The reading of the new play Leviticus in Love: The Randy Roberts Potts Story, which is “based on the true account of the gay grandson of super-famous tele-evangelist Oral Roberts,” will now be presented Sept. 26 at the Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre in Manhattan. (Originally planned for Aug. 29, the date was changed due to Hurricane Irene.)
Matthew Corozine will direct Ryan Tofil’s play, which is being produced by Jason Fernandez with Matthew Corozine Studio. Show times are 7 PM and 9 PM.
The cast will feature Tom Berklund (The Addams Family), Wendy Charles, Chris Davis, Linda Eicher, Tessa Faye, Joe Fusco, Matthew LaBanca (Young Frankenstein), David Lipman, Alexander Quiroga (Wicked) and Erin Stutland.
“On June 10th, 1982 Ronald D. Roberts is found dead in his car with a bullet through his heart,” according to press notes. “After years of depression and substance abuse wares at his soul, Ronnie’s will to stay alive is cut short. Nearly 30 years later Randy, Ronnie’s nephew, life traces the same path. Tortured by a closed minded evangelical family, Randy fights to untangle his heart damned by the Biblical law of Leviticus and others who are unwavering to see beyond their own fears.”
Randy Roberts Potts will be part of a talkback following the reading.
There is a suggested donation of $5 for the reading, which is open to the public; for reservations call (212) 592-4138. Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre is located in Manhattan at 300 W. 43rd St., Suite #502, within the Times Square Art Center. For more information visit www.matthewcorozinestudio.com.

COOL BLUES
It is 1955. B is a Black jazz musician so renowned and innovative that he only needs a single
initial to identify him. We join him as he shows up unannounced to spend a fateful weekend in
the apartment of Baroness Alexandra Isabella von Templeton (Xan), one of the world’s richest
women. His manner and his mood shifts are as mercurial as his music. His talent at deception
and self defense is as agile as his ability to charm. Questions of loyalty, love, privilege, and
friendship are probed as the ghosts of B’s past and present demand answers.

MCS Celebrates 13 years…..
2013 marks our 13th year training actors in the heart of the theatre district in NYC–to “get outta your head”.
Based in the Meisner Technique, MCS teaches “the reality of doing and finding the truth within yourself”. Great actors trust their instincts and impulses fully, and respond truthfully from their humanity. In doing so, MCS cultivates a new generation of professional artists that are currently working in Broadway, Hollywood, television, film, and live theatre regional and international.
