“When I first met Matthew Corozine, my heart started to pound like it does when one falls in love, I instantly knew studying Meisner with Matt was the right thing to add to my life! Boy, was I right!
I just finished my first film where I had to play a heroine addict. This is a world I was not familiar with. I am convinced that had I not been learning in class these past few months, I would not have had as in depth of a performance. It was the hardest work I had ever done and… I surprised myself. I had no idea I could do what I did! Having an incredibly talented co-star , David Gazzo (who also studies with Matthew), made filming extra special. What more can an actor ask for than a partner who gives you so much to work with take after take? I got lucky.
Matthew is a very smart and sharp coach who challenges me in ways I could never imagine. It’s not only repetition and scene work but also imaginary circumstances and audition technique and improv and workshops and an artist roundtable where you can bounce your ideas off of your peers and showcases where you can share your work with the public be it a play, a reading, a poem, a song, etc. I promise you there is nothing like the sense of community at MCS. With a coach that doesn’t only care about your acting but also about the you in your waking life, you will feel ready to audition, book and soar or create a new work all your own with a space to share it! I am constantly supported artistically and humanly. Doing this work with this coach and these people, is one of the best choices I have ever made for myself. Every time I am at MCS, I learn from watching and working with everyone here and they all have shaped the way I act today. There are countless opportunities at MCS. You never know who is going to ask you to be part of a project. Since joining MCS I have been a part of Spencer Oaks Dawson’s “It Gets Better” video shoot raising awareness and sharing love for LGBT youth, a short film, a reading of original work by an amazing writer, Nina Burns dedicated to World Aids Day and a music video. I also have more projects in the works.
Everyday with Matthew is a treasure. I constantly learn that I posses new capabilities and now I feel I can do it all!
I want to say to Matthew and the MCS family, thank you for giving me the creative home I had been longing to find. I am joyful.”
