Kevin Smith Kirkwood - KINKY BOOTS (Broadway)
"I love that the class is a wonderful mix of talented actors at all levels of experience, from working Broadway actors and mature veterans, to young energetic talent new to 'the business', all seeking to expand their horizons and honestly work on their craft. But, Matthew's magic is his innate ability to understand people and connect to each actor on a personal level. He gets to the core of what makes each individual tick. His personality is magnetic, supportive, and fun. Yet, his eye is keen, specific, and intuitive. Those things, plus his palpable passion for helping his students 'get out of their heads' and live (and thus, ACT) more truthfully is what makes him an unbelievably effective coach.”
-
Lauralyn McClelland - SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, MATILDA, ROCK OF AGES (Broadway)
"Matt has an insane ability to cut through your shit, see what's underneath it, and love the part of you that you were hiding. Growing up we're taught to mask the asshole within, be nice... in class we are free to be truthful, angry, selfish, express when we are hurting, scream and hit the wall. A safe place to be vulnerable, what a God-send! To shut out the noise for 4 hours and be in the moment is a gift. MCS is therapy, church, and art rolled into one."
-
Michael Cusumano - CHICAGO (Broadway), WHEN I'M HER (PBS)
“MCS gave me tools and courage as a performer to go deeper within myself and guide me in my journey as I discovered who I am and my purpose. I am forever grateful to Matthew for believing in me and being an incredible mentor, inspiration and friend.”
-
Elijah Caldwell - Usher Standby in A STRANGE LOOP (Playwrights Horizons)
“MCS opened my eyes to the notion that I had the ability to be great. Now, my work at MCS is teaching me to LIVE in my greatness!”
-
Matthew LaBanca - A CHRISTMAS CAROL, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, WHITE CHRISTMAS (Broadway) Creator and Star of COMMUNION (Off-Broadway)
"Taking class here is, hands down, the best investment I've made for my acting career. I always knew I had more depth as an actor, but that depth eluded me until I found MCS. This is where I finally learned to let go of doing things the "right" way, to honor my own unique impulses, and to consistently know what it means to live in the moment.. The environment here is creative, safe, and often magical. My work is richer, fuller, and more true because of my studies at MCS."
-
Kristina Cole - The Blacklist, Billions, Co-Founder of The Shrill Collective
"There is no greater space to find, cultivate, and support your artistry than at MCS. Matthew has taught me to never accept less than my best, live truthfully and fully (in both real AND imaginary circumstances), and to trust my own unique voice. In a world full of "this is the right way to act," Matt takes the time and compassion with each student to embolden their talent into a masterpiece that is all their own. Everywhere I take this work and Matthew's impeccable coaching- I find a trail of callbacks, bookings, and the best feedback an actor could ask for. Without fail, the joy and courage I have personally found in this studio has filled my work with humanistic authenticity. Run, don't walk to his class."
-
Jason Williams - A BRONX TALE (1st National Tour)
“I am so grateful to be able to call Matthew Corozine Studio my acting home. Matt's care for his students and his personalized coaching style are one of a kind. I took my first class 9 years ago and I still can't get enough! One of the really great things about MCS is no class ever feels the same. He always finds new and interesting ways to challenge you not only as an artist but as a person. He's built such a safe place and strong community for creativity and growth and my life and career have benefited greatly from my time there. I would highly recommend this studio for actors at any level who want hone their craft and learn about themselves in the process!"
-
Kimberly Michelle Thomas - USO Show Troupe
“The first time I worked with Matthew was a coaching for an audition. I remember being horribly nervous. I had never worked with an acting coach, and didn't know what to expect. On top of that, I had very little experience with scene work and was very self conscious about my abilities (or lack there of). WELL. The coaching was only for an hour, but I left feeling more in touch with myself as an actor than I ever had in my years of performance. After that experience, I vowed that I would come back and take regular classes, but of course, I got sidetracked with performance. I had almost let myself off of the hook when… I was away on a gig and mentioned taking class at MCS and was answered by three fellow actors from different productions immediately responding with a resounding “Do it. Now.” That was all the push I needed to take action. I arranged to have a consultation as soon as I returned, and the rest has been an enriching artistic experience for which I am eternally grateful. Matthew Corozine is an insightful, patient, and nurturing teacher, a brilliant director, and most of all, an extraordinary human being. Thank you MCS!”
-
Elena Ricardo - BEAUTIFUL, MAMMA MIA (Broadway)
"In a business where limits are placed on us through countless rejections, insensitive comments, or even through our own self doubt, Matt emerges from the negativity and restores faith in everything about our wonderful yet completely unpredictable industry. We tend to just survive some of the people and events in our lives, but Matt gets you connected to the emotions we often have to suppress in order to get by each day. He reminds me through every class how important our work is and how we must fall in love with human behavior rather than judge it. Matt is your biggest fan. He does everything in his power to fight for your worth. He is playful, he is strong, and he is exactly what I've needed in not only my acting life but my personal life. I am capable of anything at MCS and he will never let me forget that.”
-
Marty Lawson - KING KONG, PROMISES, PROMISES, SHREK (Broadway)
"You come to MCS to study great and honest acting with a passionate meticulous coach. Then you quickly find you never want to leave because of the deep personal exploration and expression Matt develops in everyone. It's not a class. It’s a ride on the truthful huma experience.”
-
Dawn Noel - THE LION KING, IN THE HEIGHTS, FAME (Broadway)
"Matthew is one of my favorite acting teachers to this day. He genuinely cares about you as an actor and a human being. He helped me get out of my own way, get out of my head and live in the moment. I always recommend him to my friends that want a great acting tracher in New York City.”
-
Asmeret Ghebremichael - WICKED, SPAMALOT, LEGALLY BLONDE, FOOTLOOSE, THE BOOK OF MORMON (Broadway)
"Matt is the kind of teacher who accepts nothing less than your best. At MCS I learned how to interpret text through my voice, which I feel makes for unique and solid work every time. There’s no comparing or copying; it’s all about trusting your gifts and becoming your most authentic and fearless self, on and off stage.”
-
Terria Joseph - TV: EMPIRE (FOX), FILM: THE GLITTER DOME, POLICE STORY
"My experience with MCS has been the surprise of my life. I think I began repeating in 2010, but I have never felt more alive, purposeful and respected. Matthew is always excited about each minute of class. He chooses monologues, lyrics, poetry and scenes that fit each one of us like a glove. He pushes each person into moments of discomfort, truth and often liberation! I praise the day I met my coach! Even as a grandma, with all the years of acting, waiting, auditioning, ups and downs, Coach has a way of making me feel relevant and hopeful and fine tuned! MCS is Golden. As an actor, it is #everything!"
-
Vincent Rodriguez III - TV: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, HERE LIES LOVE (The Public Theatre, Off-B'way)
"Learning the Meisner technique in Matthew’s class, I felt like it was the first time I was truly acting. His classroom setting is such a nourishing place to be for the actor looking to strengthen the honesty and fullness to their work. It’s the ultimate “gym” for listening, being in the moment and reacting on impulse… all things that are vital & unique to our expression as actors. It’s very comforting to know that Matt is there, fighting for us to be our authentic, true selves. To get out of our heads and allow ourselves to tap into those instincts & emotions with the full depth that we often don’t know that we have. After taking class with Matthew, I definitely feel my confidence as an actor getting stronger & stronger.”
-
Luke Darnell - THE OTHER JOSH COHEN (Off-Broadway)
"For me, the best thing about class with Matthew Corozine is that he creates a very supportive atmosphere without coddling. Class feels like a safe place to shed baggage and take risks but you'll also feel challenged to dig deeper, to let the scene or exercise take you to a place that you didn't expect, to truly and fully connect with your fellow actors. He has tremendous instincts when it comes to knowing how to specifically challenge and guide an actor toward a breakthrough and continuously helps me to get out of my own way.”
-
Autumn Guzzardi - ROCK OF AGES (10th Anniversary Off-Broadway)
"I came to MCS when I needed an artistic kick in the rear and MCS has helped to light a welcomed fire in my life. It has given me the space to expand my limits as a performer, trust connections with other actors, increase my emotional vernacular, and sharpen my scene work skills. I now carry my MCS training with me in all aspects of my career as well as my daily life. Taking risks, having some faith, and practicing the skills that keep us sharp performers are valuable things I've learned from MCS. I’m truly grateful!”
-
Nicolas Dromard - JERSEY BOYS, MARY POPPINS (Broadway)
"Matt has helped me discover tools and notes that I didn't think I had in my acting. I love his energy and dedication and I've never trusted a teacher like I trust him. I can't speak highly enough about his class.”
-
Gabrielle Ruiz - "Valencia" in CRAZY EX GIRLFRIEND, "Carla/Nina" IN THE HEIGHTS (Broadway), EVITA (Broadway), IF/THEN (Broadway)
"I have been a MCS soldier for over 2 years now, and I truly believe this studio is my home for my artistic soul. I challenge anyone to commit to MCS if they want to get down the REAL reasons of what makes their soul alive and provoke real passion in not only their craft but in their lives. Ever since my first class, my "art of acting” has never been the same and I have never looked back."
-
Jonathan Hoover - Mrs. Doubtfire (National Tour - cover for title role)
“I came to MCS at a time in my career where I was either going to quit or double down. I was feeling stuck and like I just could not break through to the next level. I decided to take the leap and see if Matts class would be a fit. After my first two weeks at MCS my artistic world began to change forever. Matt sees the heart of people, and feels their truth. Like a magician, he quickly hones in on what’s blocking you from doing your most daring and vulnerable work and challenges you to reach further. He helped me connect to my most honest self with a bravery that allows me to bring that honesty to every aspect of my work. Taking Matt’s class also reminded me how important it is to invest into your art in a way that has nothing to do with getting a job. But rather because I owe it to myself to be the best artist I can be. And he will NEVER let you settle for less.”
-
KJ Hippensteel - SOME LIKE IT HOT, MRS. DOUBTFIRE, THE BOOK OF MORMON (Broadway)
Matthew Corozine changed me as an actor. He is STILL changing me as an actor. Every day that I go onstage, or behind a camera, his technique and wisdom go with me, until I forget, and then his voice reminds me to react to what I'm getting in an honest and truthful way. I feel like he has helped, and continues to help, me find myself and who I am, and more and more, I am able to access who I truly am on a daily basis, and not that person I pretend to be on Facebook. I think of him not only as an amazing teacher/ acting coach, but also as an incredible life coach. Because acting is life. And life is acting.
-
Kathy Deitch - Original Broadway Casts of FOOTLOOSE and WICKED, Original Off-Broadway Cast of TITANIQUE, Judge Bowers on LAW AND ORDER
"The Meisner technique has not only freed me up as an actor but also as a human being. My feelings about the world matter and deserve to be heard - Matt was the one who reinforced that in me. MCS will change your life!”
-
Brittany Bohn - BACK TO THE FUTURE (Broadway & First National Tour)
“Joining MCS was one of the best choices I’ve ever made - not only for my career, but for my life. The way Ryan and Matt create a safe space for all people to explore and share their emotional life is unparalleled. Being a witness to consistent breakthroughs for myself and my classmates was inspiring and allowed me to take what I learned into the real world. I mastered how to successfully memorize lines, get out of my own way & trust myself to feel & react presently without judgement. I faced many fears but most notably the fear of being seen and allowing vulnerable eye contact. My teacher Ryan Tofil has a gift for coaching and is still in my life to this day. I can safely say that I am back to doing what I love because of this incredible studio and community.”
-
Tommy McDowell - American Idiot (1st National Tour), Jesus Christ Superstar (50th Anniversary Tour)
“MCS has been a real game-changer in my career and the careers of so many of my peers. Matthew has a unique way of getting actors to open up, find their truest, most honest inner selves, and getting them out of their own heads. Matt Corozine came into my life at a time when I needed him most, and some of the bonds that I made in those classes will last a lifetime. I am so grateful for this safe space—a place that I always know that I can go to “work that muscle,” so to speak. I can’t recommend this class or this work enough.”
-
Brooke Jacob
“Studying at MCS Studios has been a game-changer for both my acting and my life. Matthew Corozine creates a supportive yet challenging environment that pushes you to grow—not just as an actor, but as a person. I’d highly recommend MCS to anyone serious about improving their craft and taking their performance to the next level.”
-
Holly Heiser - FuerzaBruta (Off Broadway and International Tour), Onion Talks, Benji's Hour, Shoplifters, A Place Between
“MCS is such a sacred place to me. Matt has created a safe space for expression and exploration and there is a sense of real community here. Matt has taught me to be in the present moment with my partner, to get out of my head and truly and truthfully exist with another human being in a scene. I am forever grateful to him and all he has helped me discover.”
-
Nathan Nolen Edwards
“Matthew Corozine Studio continues to give me the much needed space I need to grow into the actor that I have always wanted to be. I have done a little bit of everything on that stage and I feel so confident bringing that work outside of the studio. On the MCS stage I have performed: Shakespeare, Miller, puppetry, musical theatre, accents, and my own original works. When I get an audition that is a huge chunk of text and it is due the next day I don't freak out because I KNOW the work is there and I know I will be able to turn around full truthful work.”
-
Tyler Keller - Music Theatre of Connecticut, ACT of Connecticut, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, KINKY BOOTS (Hollywood Bowl)
“Through the ups and downs in this crazy world/ business/ life, my weekly class with Matthew has become my home base where I can always be reminded of my fullest potential. I have never met another teacher so genuinely invested in every single student’s success. The community of actors at MCS is incredibly welcoming and intensely inspiring. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to invest in yourself and get out of your own way- this is it!”
-
David J. Baldwin
I’ve grown to trust my self, my instincts, my heart. MCS has supported me as I’ve created OUT/PLAY: Queer Play Reading Series, and I’ve been able to give back by casting so many MCS actors in our plays. MCS is a place to play, explore, love, grow, and break through the barriers you didn’t know you’d put up for yourself."
-
Laura Stracko - Come From Away (Regional premiere), Diana: A New Musical (Netflix/Broadway), Blue Bloods
“MCS changed how I show up as an artist. I needed a place to be imperfect and messy, and to find joy in process. Training here has solidified my individual work ethic, from drilling for memorization to emotional prep. I’ve most enjoyed finding community and taking inspiration from classmates who’ve become colleagues and friends. Matt has helped me take risks here that I’ve never taken before, and he skillfully coaches at every level of this work. Come if you’re a beginner, come if you’ve been at it a while. Come if you’re stuck, or if you’re on a roll. If you’re looking (and I mean really looking) for accountability and a higher standard for yourself, MCS is going to help you raise that bar.“
-
Adam Dulin Tavares
“Working with Matthew at MCS I’ve been able to really hone in on my Meisner skill set and utilize it in every exercise we’re given, audition, job, workshop, and at times in everyday life. MCS is an incredible space to strengthen my creative muscles, ground myself in my honest instinctual impulses and take risks in the supportive environment Matthew holds for everyone. I also couldn’t be more grateful for the artists who show up to class and inspire growth at every level. In the work at MCS, I’ve been able to deepen my connection to characters and also deepen connection to myself.”
-
John Alix - Harry Potter & the Cursed Child (Broadway, San Francisco), Fuerza Bruta (Off-Broadway, Peru), America’s Got Talent, Boardwalk Empire, Step Up
“I came to MCS as a dancer who wanted to explore more options in the world of theatre. I had no training in acting, but from my first day, I knew that I was in a safe space to mess up. Actually, it was encouraged. Through a few years of training with Matthew, I shed years of blockades I had built to protect myself, and allowed myself to be human in front of an incredible group of artists. This release of who I thought I had to be propelled me forward in my career, and led me to always be curious about the unknown. I’m grateful to Matthew and the community at MCS for pushing me forward. It was a challenging, beautiful experience.”

Keiji Ishiguri - Cabaret at the Kit Kat Klub (Broadway)
“I can’t say enough positive things about MCS — Matthew is an unparalleled leader and has built one of the most supportive acting communities I’ve been a part of. He has created an environment that fully evens the playing field between some of the most seasoned professionals in the biz and people just beginning their acting journey. I’ve never felt more emboldened to be messy, fully explore my inner emotional world, and finally “get out of my head”, maybe for the first time in my life. Cannot recommend his classes enough — sign up today!”
-
David Gazzo - Law & Order: SVU. Writer/Actor of the award winning short film “Johnny The Dime”
“I showed to MCS thinking acting it just being how other people are. Instead, I learned that acting is being how I really am. Matthew taught me that I can use whatever daydream I have to get me to a safe emotional place, for whatever the role calls for, and then just see what happens. Acting became very simple. I have made wonderful friends along the way, and it is a place I always come back to.”
-
Justin Senense - National Tour: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, International Tour: HAIR
"I always thought that to succeed in the business you had to master the art of becoming someone else. What I have learned through all my years at MCS and Matt's teachings, is that to do so, you must master the art of being yourself first. Everyone tells you just be yourself, but in all my years of training there was never a place where you could practice doing just that. Matt has created that space in MCS. It is bigger than an acting studio, it is a home for your creative heart to beat and a playground for your artist soul to grow. I came to MCS in 2015 and I will continue to keep coming to class because it is the one place I know of in NYC where I feel my creative expression, my heart and my art always belongs. Because of MCS and Matt, I have not only fallen in love with acting and performing once again, but I have fallen in love with who I am."
-
Nathan Cockroft
“I’m so grateful for Matt and the MCS community. I’d been working professionally for over 10 years, but was struggling to find a support team and artistic home here in the city. Matt helped me get out of my own way, and discover the joy of creating again. Breaking the rules, getting messy, and surprising myself have been the greatest gifts the Meisner technique could give me. I’ve seen artists of all backgrounds and skill levels flourish in this technique, and unlock who they really are at their core. This class is the gift that keeps giving, not just for my career, but for my life.”
-
Sara Romanello - Bloodspawn (Independent Feature/Red Owl), The Wolves (The Flea Theater), A View From The Bridge (SOOP Theatre Company).
“MCS has made me the actor that I am today. Matt has this incredible ability to really see people and meet them exactly where they’re at. When I first got to MCS, I was terrified of giving up control and taking risks in my work. With Matt’s help, I’ve broken down so many walls. I’ve learned to be vulnerable and honest on stage; to be bold, messy, and to truly listen to my scene partner. Matt fights so hard for every student and helps each learn to fight for themselves just as hard. It’s because of this that the community he creates is the most supportive and talented I’ve ever encountered. There hasn’t been a single day I’ve been in class that I haven’t been inspired by a performance and I always feel safe to leave everything on the stage. This studio has brought me friendships, memories and skills that I will cherish forever. Most importantly, it has helped me fall in love with acting all over again and for that I will be forever grateful. I can’t recommend MCS enough. Here you can be inspired, be messy, be honest, learn, create, fall in love, and grow. Come try it out; you won’t be sorry you did.”
